Can I take off a cast on foot myself? - spiral fracture 5th metatarsal

I broke the 5th Metatarsal bone and was diagnosed as a mild spiral fracture. Physician has a walking cast and told me that after 3 weeks is that the model and eliminated it will have no problem walking, but must wait another month to begin exercising safely. It is far more than three weeks, but I did not see any possibility of the doctor, I'm not in school. Is it OK if I vote for me? If so, what is the safest way to do this?
